Games Report

VARSITY

The Huronia Stallions Varsity team improved to 4-1 on the season with a 34-21 road victory over the Nippising Wild.  Wide Receiver Dan Vandervoort came off the injured list and had a huge impact with 8 receptions for 113 yards and 2 touchdowns.  Quarterback Tivon Cook continued his impressive play completing 19 of 22 pass attempts for 249 yards, 3 touchdowns and an interception.  Wide Receiver Justin Alexander caught the other touchdown pass and also had 82 receiving yards on 2 receptions.  Tailback John Shields had another fine game with 22 carries for 103 yards and a touchdown.  Mackenzie Reed plowed in on a 3 yard run for the other Stallions score.  Defensively, Zach Marshall led the team with 8 tackles in his first start of the season.  The Stallions are off next weekend before a Championship game rematch against Twin Cities.

 

JUNIOR VARSITY

The Huronia Stallions Junior Varsity team lost a gut wrenching 21-20 decision to the Sudbury Gladiators.  The Stallions went down 21-0 before roaring back to score 20 unanswered points.  Unfortunately the team missed an extra point in the fourth quarter that would have tied the game.  Tailback Matt Howe was a workhorse again on offence with two touchdowns and several impressive runs.  Jaden Kelly rushed for the other score.  Kelly has really stepped up his game of late after high pre-season expectations.  Defensively, rookie Linebacker Tyler Richards had a strong game as did Linebacker Tyler Dekkers.  The team travels to Oakville this Friday in a huge game with the playoffs still a possibly.

 

BANTAM

The Huronia Stallions Bantam team fell to 0-5 on the season with a 38-19 loss to Oakville.  After a 7-6 deficit at the end of the first quarter, the Stallions were done in by a weak second quarter and found themselves trailing 28-6 at halftime.  The second half was more competitive with the Stallions scoring two touchdowns but it was too little too late.  Tailback Zach Creamer was the top offensive player with several strong carries that culminated with two touchdown scampers.  Christian Hutter-Coppin had a couple of clutch third down receptions to keep key drives alive.  Jack Schneider stood up defensively and Nathan Robinson added an interception.  The Stallions next game is this Saturday at 1PM at the Barrie Sports Complex in Midhurst.
