VARSITY
The Huronia Stallions Varsity Football team defeated the Clarington Knights 50-21 in their OFC Quarterfinal playoff game. Offensive standouts were Wide Receivers Eric McCrea and Adam Zussino who both had touchdown receptions. Quarterbacks Tivon Cook and Tristan Huyke each passed for a score. Wes Burbidge had an electrifying punt return touchdown and Zack Keough had an interception for a touchdown. The Stallions defence contributed the Keough touchdown, 5 quarterback sacks and 4 batted balls. Safety Brandon Johnston played an outstanding game and led the team in tackles. The Stallions will host the Nipissing Wild in the North Division Championship game this Saturday at 1 Pm at the Barrie Sports Complex in Midhurst. The Stallions gained homefield advantage because Nipissing upset Sudbury in the quarterfinals. The winner advances to the Ontario Football Conference Provincial Championship August 11 at Nelson Stadium in Burlington.
BANTAM
The Huronia Stallions Bantam Football team lost 24-21 on the road to Oakville in the Ontario Football Conference Quarterfinals. The Stallions held a 21-6 lead at halftime but couldn’t hold on for the upset win.
